Just so we don’t forget. way to be, a.

Oh yeah and on the way home from the bar where we went for drinks, I had to call 911 cause this guy jumped out of his car and started hitting this other guy with a metal baseball bat.

1. How badass is the Village Voice for putting Elliot Gould on the cover this week? The Long Goodbye is my favorite, hope it gets a much deserved full super deluxe DVD release soon, with the rest of the Altman cannon.

2. Leave Donaghy alone. My parents called me terrible, much more horrific things than pig. They had every right to. You fight with your family, and pretending to be outraged by fatherly anger is moronic.

3. Nice haircut, sunshine. Like how it draws attention to your crazy, killer eye.

Urinating in public

Hey everyone! I’m still working on your surprise, but you’ll have to hang tight and deal with this for now.

Our beloved president, the esteemed George W. Bush, is delivering some important speech on Iraq policy Friday afternoon, and it just so happens that he’ll be delivering said speech about three blocks from my house at East Grand Rapids High School. You probably know it, even if you don’t know it. The high school in the first American Pie movie is actually EGR High School. The cat who wrote the films grew up right around the corner. (If you want to see other landmarks from the series, visit me in the next month and I can show you around.) Now, I’d love to be there to hold up some snarky sign or to piss on the prez’s leg, but I have to work my usual 8-4.

I guess what I’m getting at is this: Can anyone go in my stead? This is too great an opportunity to pass up. I would totally take the day off, but I have this important-ass shit that’s actually bringing me in to work Saturday, as well, otherwise I’d be there. Please, please: someone go in my place. This could be our last chance.

Work sucks?

I’ll probably only be at my current job another month or so, but if you ever catch me complaining about the monotony-cum-crappiness, remind me of these four facts:

1) Every day I get scolded for getting too much work done. Seriously.

2) Last week I showed up 10 minutes late wearing slippers and no one said a word.

3) I get seven smoke breaks a day on average.

4) I get to sit on the floor with my shoes off instead of at a stupid desk with my shoes on like everyone else.

cupSome of the best times of my life have been at terrible parties. Those messy, overcrowded affairs at shitty college houses, where you get there and you don’t know anyone and decide it’s time to be a bastard.

Yes, my fellow state-college Diaspora, I was that ironic-tee kid lingering all night around the keg. I over-bantered with people I didn’t know and mercilessly teased the host’s girlfriend.

I was your best friend for 20 minutes, flinging open cupboard doors and passing out Cheese-Its. Then I messed with way-too wasted dudes and ran to the bathroom to flush whole boxes of q-tips. No consequences, no honor—just pure “yanking-out-speaker-cables, pissing-off-the-porch-on-to-somebody’s-Camry” fun.

Yesterday, my friend told me he ended up driving to see “Grindhouse” at a drive-in in Wisconsin on Saturday night with a dozen people he had never met and who the buddy who brought him had also never met. They were giddy bastards, I’ll bet, running from car to car, cracking lame jokes: free from expectations and ever having to explain.

They got home at 5 AM.

I sat on the couch with my mother-in-law (who’s lovely. really) and watched an old Hitchcock, sadly being myself.

Idiots.
Bastards.
Sellouts.
Douches.
And brain-dead jagoffs trying to kill us.

So it goes.

A minor rant

It’s times like these when I really wish I still had my column at College Newspaper. This blog will have to do for now. Anyway, I’d like to address the Don Imus-Rutgers women’s basketball team controversy. Imus called members of the Rutgers team “nappy-headed hos,” and everyone wigged out and said it’s, like, one of the most tragic things ever to befall this nation. This would have been the proper reaction: “Wow, Don Imus is a crusty old asshole of a man. That was a pretty stupid thing to say. I think I’ll get a sandwich.”*
